This course is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience with handguns as well as experienced shooters looking for an excellent refresher of fundamentals. This course is designed to give you a comprehensive overview of the operation of handguns and provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate them safely. Students will learn proper body mechanics, grip, trigger control, sight alignment, loading, reloading, and how to clear common malfunctions. Enjoy a hands-on learning experience and become a confident, informed, and responsible gun owner.

Course Format: This beginner handgun course combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on training at a supervised outdoor shooting range. The course is led by experienced and certified firearms instructors who prioritize safety and individualized instruction.

Course Objectives: By the end of this beginner handgun course, participants will:

 Safety First: Learn the essential safety principles and rules of firearm handling, emphasizing safe practices at all times.

 

 Firearm Familiarity: Gain a solid understanding of handgun components, types, and operation, including how to safely load and unload different types of handguns.

​

 Shooting Fundamentals: Master the basic shooting techniques, including proper stance, grip, sight alignment, recoil management, and trigger control.

 

 Marksmanship: Develop accuracy and precision by practicing target shooting with live ammunition under the guidance of certified instructors.

 

Ammunition Knowledge: Understand various types of ammunition, their purpose, and how to select appropriate ammunition for different handguns.

 

 Cleaning and Maintenance: Learn how to clean, maintain, and store handguns safely, ensuring their longevity and reliability.

 

 Equipment Requirements: Participants are expected to bring the following items to the course:

 

 A personal handgun (Gun Rental is included with beginner   course if you do not have one).

​

 Appropriate Ear and Eye Protection

 

 Ammunition: Approx. 100 rounds (Ammo available for purchase at range, ammo MUST be purchase at range when using a range rental handgun).

 

 Closed toed shoes.

 

 Water (avail for purchase)

 

 Optional Equipment: Participants may bring the following items to the course:

Holster and mag carriers for your firearm.

 

Sturdy belt for holster.

​

Hat / sun visor.

​

Prerequisites: No prior experience with handguns is required.
